Research Into The Music Industry

Yesterday, we were given the details for a really useful website which allows people to advertise their bands' songs for people to make music videos to. Here is the link: http://www.radarmusicvideos.com/home/about-us

This site offers production companies who are looking for work to contact bands who are looking for videos to join together and make a video, usually on a very low budget with very unknown artists. The site is sort of a networking place that is a win/win situation for the unknown bands and the unknown production company as they both get something to show at the end of the process. For example, here is a video Radar made to show the highlights of the year 2013 for the music videos they created:

This is a really useful site for companies starting up in the music industry as it is a really tough business. It is also useful for us to gather inspiration in creating our own ideas for a music video.

Also, in this lesson taught by creative director Luke, we looked at some good examples of music videos that fit the stereotype of their genre but stood out a mile just because of their concept. An example of this is Breezeblocks by Alt-J:

However, as this is a fairly pop-y song and appeals to a wide audience, we also had a look at Die Antwood and their song I Fink U Freeky which is the perfect example of a video that matches it's genre through concept. Here is the video:
